About Chester Corrie Consulting

Robert Hopkin has been a mechanical engineering apprentice, a secondary school teacher, a senior officer in the Royal Air Force, a railway supply chain specialist, a university lecturer in railway systems engineering and a developer of post graduate educational courses in railway systems and control engineering. His main joy remains teaching people the fundamentals of Collaborative Business Relationships for those people and companies (big and small) seeking ISO 44001 accreditation

I’m Robert Hopkin and after my mechanical engineering apprenticeship with APE Allen of Bedford in the late 70s, I studied to become a school teacher at the College of St Paul and St Mary in Cheltenham, I then taught secondary school pupils hard sums and sport for five years and then joined the Royal Air Force. Some 20 years later, I found myself in the railway sector and am now a university lecturer and business development specialist for the Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education (BCRRE) at the University of Birmingham.
If you, or your company is looking to upskill or adaptively skill to become more competitive in the Rail Sector then advanced education from the Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education (BCRRE) might be just the ticket (dreadful puns included free of charge!)
I can help you navigate through the maze of CPD, Post Grad Certs, Dips and MSc courses - all of them have strong international representation, participation and reputation - drop me an e-mail at r.hopkin@bham.ac.uk for a chat - thank you.

Robert set up Chester Corrie Consulting to pass on his extensive experience in developing individuals, groups and teams - to help others to unlock their potential and 'bridge the gap' between today's capability and tomorrow's needs ...

I’m Robert Hopkin and after my mechanical engineering apprenticeship with APE Allen of Bedford in the late 70s, I studied to become a school teacher (why?!) at the College of St Paul and St Mary in Cheltenham, now part of the University of Gloucestershire.  After graduating, I taught Mathematics, Computer Studies and Physical Education at Magdalen College School in Brackley, Northamptonshire.  After 5 years, with itchy feet, I applied to the Royal Air Force and spent the next 20 years as an Education and Training Officer, with 14 tours in 11 different locations (including operational tours) in the UK, Mainland Europe, the Middle East and Central America.

For the last 10 years, I have been working in the supply chain of the railway sector running a start-up railway sector trade organisation called the Rail Alliance (see www.railalliance.co.uk).  For the past 2 years, I have been in post at the University of Birmingham as their Head of Educational Development for the Birmingham Centre for Rail Research and Education (see www.birmingham.ac.uk/railway). So, if you (or your company or organisation - whether home or abroad) need your engineers 'converting' to railway systems engineering, or you need your engineering or operational staff competencies developed ... then please e-mail me at r.hopkin@bham.ac.uk - thank you
So ... why is this business called Chester Corrie Consulting?  The inspiration for CCC comes from my two best friends in life who, although both have passed away, have left an indelible mark on me and others through their unconditional love, total loyalty and general mischievousness (it's a dog thing - other dog owners will get it).  Chester was a particularly fine specimen of a Golden Retriever, well known across many RAF stations; Corrie was the impishly cute West Highland White Terrier who came along later, and she ran rings round poor Chester (and most of us humans too).  Who better to have as your touchstones, guardians and influencers than two of 'man's best friends'!

Through my decades of developing people and leading (literally) hundreds of people under arduous and demanding circumstances, but always within a collaborative environment, I can help you achieve the ISO 44001:2017 standard for Collaborative Business Relationship Management Systems.

Start as you mean to go on ... with a CCC 'ISO 44001 Awareness Programme' as your first step. This programme offers a half-day awareness training intervention for up to 10 persons.  Please feel free to contact me for further information.
